We greatly value the service that our volunteers provide. We feel it is very important to recognize your efforts. We do this in a number of ways:
- By respecting your preferences in terms of how and how often you want to volunteer with Central Blood Bank.
- By thanking you each and every time you volunteer for us.
- Through personalized annual holiday cards distributed by our volunteer coordinator. These cards are sent throughout the year, reminding you of how grateful we are for your efforts on our behalf.
- At a Yearly Luncheon honoring all of our volunteers. The Yearly Luncheon is the culmination of our Volunteer Recognition Program. Here we share stories, laughs, ideas, and a gift is given as a token of our appreciation for the work you do all year long.
- By honoring one volunteer who embodies the spirit of volunteerism with The Margaret Chalfant Remembrance Award.
Established in 2002, The Margaret Chalfant Remembrance Award honors a special person who volunteered more than 22 years of service to Central Blood Bank's mission.
Margaret Chalfant dedicated many hours to caring for donors post-donation in the canteen area and coordinating the volunteer scheduling at the South Hills Community Donation Center. Encouraged by family, friends, and fellow volunteers, Central Blood Bank established this award in her honor. The award is designed to honor Mrs. Chalfant and to recognize a volunteer who embodies the spirit of volunteerism, supports Central Blood Bank's mission, and continuously passes the vision of Central Blood Bank on to each donor he or she meets.
The winner of the award will be recognized at the Yearly Luncheon and receive an engraved plaque to commemorate their work. The award recipient will be selected from nominations from peers, Central Blood Bank staff, and the Customer Satisfaction and Volunteer Department.
