"When I retired from
U.S. Steel, a fellow employee who had retired a
few years earlier was volunteering with Central
Blood Bank. He suggested I try volunteering with
them and I did. That's how I got started.
As a city resident I have been volunteering with the mobile blood drive units in
the city, mainly downtown and Oakland. It is easily accessible for me to get to
the drives on a bus. I enjoying talking with and looking after the donors. They
are most appreciative when someone asks if they are doing well, even when
they're feeling great! Working with the various Central Blood Bank mobile units
is a big plus. I get to meet a lot of great people." -

“I enjoy working with blood bank
personnel, volunteers such as George, having
conversation and serving donors such as we had a
Pitt’s drive at Heinz Field on August 23rd.”

"I am a long time Central Blood Bank donor and always appreciate the kind and calming manner of the canteen volunteers. Now it is my turn to help others have a pleasant and rewarding blood donation experience." -
Cheryl
"Volunteering at Central Blood Bank gives me the opportunity to help donors have a positive experience. I have met interesting people, wonderful staff, and potential donors (the children who come with their parents and grandparents). Volunteering is fun, informative, and something everyone should consider." -

"I think that donors are the greatest people and I enjoy being with them. I live alone and they are like my family. I look forward to volunteering. I feel like I am helping someone. I have made some beautiful friendships." -
